The Hood River Watershed Group's purpose is to sustain and improve the Hood River Watershed through education, cooperation and stewardship. One of 82 watershed councils in Oregon, the Hood River Watershed Group is a forum of landowners, citizens, growers, irrigation and water districts, environmental organizations, businesses, recreationists, governments and tribal representatives working together to benefit Hood River Valley's natural resources.

The Indian Creek Open House and Ice Age Flood event was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. The nearly 100 attendees viewed displays created by local individuals, businesses, agencies and groups that are working to enhance Indian Creek. Attendees were also given the opportunity to give input on what aspects of Indian Creek they value, and what they feel needs to be improved. The keynote speaker for the event was geologist Bruce Bjornstad (author of the recent book “On the Trail of the Ice Age Floods”) who gave an illustrated presentation on the Ice Age floods.
