New NRCS Funding Opportunities – Apply Soon!
Hood River’s local Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office is expecting funding to continue and expand through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). The following project types will be eligible:
- Elimination of all diesel oil burning orchard heaters, grinding and chipping orchard wood waste in lieu of burning it, and using an EPA approved method of burning diseased orchard prunings will likely be funded again through the National Air Quality Initiative.
- Irrigation system upgrade projects in Middle Fork, East Fork, or Mt. Hood irrigation districts will likely be funded as well.
Eligibility documents and applications must be completed by March 16th in order to take advantage of these opportunities.
